Messengers and Prophets

As the best of men they were raised up by God from amongst His creatures to lead by example and dedicate their entire lives struggling for the His cause. The Quran teaches that every nation of people has received a prophet.

Islam teaches that approximately 126000 prophets were sent from the beginning of our history, although only 25 are specifically mentioned in the Quran. These messengers began with Adam and ended with Mohammad in 632CE.

Some of the other great messengers mentioned in the Quran are Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (Peace and Blessings be upon them all). There is also a mention of the many that have not been referenced by name in the Quran.

And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad); of some of them We have related to you their story and of some We have not related to you their story…
(Quran 40:78)
